The Credit Maze: Establishing & Using Credit
This program is designed to assist adults in defining credit and identifying the common types of credit, the importance of shopping around for credit, advantages and disadvantages of using credit, ways of establishing credit, parts of a credit bureau, consumers rights and responsibilities, and discussing common credit scams.

 
Credit When Credit Is Due
This program presents a common sense approach to personal finances. Participants will gain a better knowledge of money issues and responsibilities of credit. The course covers: The Facts Of Life; Living On The Edge; To Borrow Or Not To Borrow; So You Have Decided To Borrow Some Money; The Terms Of The Deal; Auto Loans & Leases ; Home Sweet Home; Credit Cards & Other Loans; You’ve Got Trouble When; When You Fall Behind; Bankruptcy; Building & Rebuilding Your Credit. Once the participant successfully completes Credit When Credit Is Due, a positive note will be added to their credit file at Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Course can be completed in a group setting or as a self-study.

 
Get Checking
A comprehensive program designed to educate and qualify participants to have responsible access to checking account services. This course serves as a chance to establish a relationship with participating financial institutions, and provides education about banking services and money management.

 
The Road Home
A specialized program to help first time homebuyers learn about the home buying process. Generally, this workshop includes a couple of hours of instruction by experts. Topics covered include: advantages and disadvantages of homeownership, budgeting for homeownership, your credit history, working with a realtor, understanding mortgage financing, affordable loan programs, home inspections and maintaining your new home, predatory lending, and consumer rights. Participants receive a take-home booklet and a free credit report analysis.

 
Financial Fitness
The “Budget Basics” made simple. Learn how to track expenses and make your money work for you. This presentation provides basic budgeting information and allows for discussion of immediate concerns of the group. We’ll discuss setting realistic, specific goals, learning how to spend money, several methods of budgeting, ideas on cutting back on expenses, and ways to save money.

 
Tough Tactics for Tough Times
This program is recommended for crisis management, potential layoffs, reduced income, etc... Goal setting, budgeting with reduced income and cutting expenses are discussed. Helpful ways to stretch a dollar are also provided.

 
Holiday Dollars and $ense
A colorful, fun, high-spirited, and energetic financial overview of preparing for the holidays. Common sense methods are discussed with strong focuses on shopping and gift-giving, and dealing with the after-holiday leftovers.

 
Teaching Kids About Money
This presentation assists parents in teaching their kids about money management. We discuss the importance of involving children in the family budget, setting reasonable allowance for each child, and developing creative ways and ideas on how to teach children on the importance of money management.

 
Understanding Credit Reports & Credit Scoring
This program gives an in-depth review of credit reports and scoring. It includes information on how to obtain reports and understanding their contents. Learning what credit reports are used for, disputing information, and understanding their impacts are highlighted.

 
Women and Credit
This presentation covers the basics of credit and the importance of women establishing a credit history on their own. This program is designed to assist women in defining credit and identifying the common types of credit, the importance of shopping around for credit, advantages and disadvantages of using credit, ways of establishing credit, and parts of a credit bureau.

 
Stolen Identity
In this age of technology and easy credit, identity theft is becoming a concern now more than ever before. Learn if you are at risk for identity theft as well as ways to protect yourself.

 
Re-establishing Credit
There is life after debt! In this discussion, we focus on proper ways of re-establishing ourselves with credit and how to develop and implement money management tools and spending plans. We’ll also review ways of not falling into a “credit trap”.

 
Managing the 90%
A program designed for faith-based communities in helping parishioners/congregants develop money management plans to not only meet their tithing obligations, but also how to manage their day to day living expenses. Money personalities and credit use are also discussed.

 
What You Need to Know About Reverse Mortgages!
There is probably no other mortgage product that is surrounded by more mystery than a reverse mortgage. What is it? How does it work? Who can get one? How much does it cost? Who pays back the loan? Find out the answers to these and other questions at this information only seminar sponsored by your local Indianapolis HUD office. If you or a loved one is 62 or older and a homeowner with equity, a reverse mortgage may help you meet expenses while allowing you to continue living in your home. There are many myths and misunderstandings about how reverse mortgages work and this presentation will give you the facts.
