Choosing a Credit Card

With credit card offers arriving in the mail every day, how do you choose the credit card that is right for you? Ask yourself these questions. The answers will help you to decide on the credit card that fits your needs.

  • Does the card charge an annual fee?
  • What is the interest rate?

Cards with annual fees will often offer a lower interest rate. If you regularly carry a balance, you may be willing to pay the annual fee in order to pay less interest on your balance.

  • Is the interest rate on the card a variable rate or a fixed rate?

Many of the newly issued cards have a variable interest rate that can fluctuate monthly.

  • Is the advertised rate an introductory rate?
  • Is the low rate for six months or a year?
  • What is the rate after that?

Shopping for credit is like shopping for any other goods or services. You must look for the best value and find the card that fits your needs.
